CHAPTER 1: A NIGHTMARE
I close my eyes,
It's dark,
You come closer,
But I don't realise.
Just like any ordinary day, the daily routine works as always. Benjamin Orwell prepared to go to his work. Ben is a senior architect. He is also a husband and a father of three children. Maxim is the elder brother. Alexia and Alicia are his younger sisters. His lovely wife, Kathryn is a full-housewife. They also have a German Shepherd breed dog named Buddy.
‘Come on kids, we are going to be late.’ Ben was rushing because he woke up late.
‘Wait, daddy.’ Max took his bag while Alexia and Alicia finished their pancakes.
Ben sent his children to school and drooped his wife at a market near their house. Ben went straight to his work. While driving, he felt strange. The road he used to go to work seem changed. But he didn’t stop. A few minutes searching for the way out, he then found and old mansion.
He saw something looks exactly like his children and his wife in a glance. So he stopped and went to the house. The house yard was full with dried leaves and woods. The window was also broken and the roof was perforated.
‘Kathryn! Alexia! Alicia! Max!’ Ben was calling their name but there was no answer.
Ben went to the main door but it was locked. Then he went inside the house through a broken window. The house looked awful and messy. When he started to walk, he saw his wife holding his children’s hand sat upstairs. He was stunned. Suddenly, an old cupboard beside the stair sounded like something knocked on it.
Something crawled out of the old cupboard towards Ben. He walked backwards slowly and ran away while screaming. Then the main door opened by itself making Ben ran out throught the door and started his car engine.
‘Ben, wake up! Why you are sweating? Are you okay? Do you have a nightmare?’
Kathryn saw Ben’s face and body were wet and she was worried.
‘No I’m okay, It's just a nightmare, maybe I’m too tired last night,"
Ben did not want to tell Kathryn about this nightmare. He thought that his dream was just something nonsense.
After breakfast Ben sent his children to school. On the way to work, he kept thinking about his dream
.
‘While daydreaming, suddenly a cat passed in front of his car fortunately he made it to break. Ben arrived at his work place. He greeted his colleagues friendly. After 10 minutes in his room, his boos called him.
Ben knocked on the door. Brandon let him in.
‘Hi Brandon’ Ben greeted his boss casually. They have been friend for a longtime.
‘Hi Ben I need to discuss something with you.’ Brandon said. He looked serious.
‘What is it?’
‘You know that our company just gets a big project and there is a problem. Well, a small issue which I think I need your skill and experience handling this. And yea... You will get promoted.’
Ben was in dilemma. That place was too far from his house. He was worried about his family. At the same time, if he accept this offer, his family can have a better life. Brandon was puzzled. Brandon promised that he would prepare a house for Ben’s family and his children.
